Re: Home page pictures

I echo your sentiments Jeff, well done to Dave and Wayne. I was fortunate enough to have a PB pike of my own during the season just passed, although not caught by design, a fish of 16.4 taken whilst barbel fishing.

As I know you how much you appreciate, and enjoy distributing pics of other anglers fish Jeff, here's one of my pike. smiling

Re: Home page pictures

Thanks chaps, actually caught it on one of my rare middle Severn excursions. A couple of seasons back, i actually had double figure pike on consecutive nights on the Lower, they do love a bit of meat sometimes. THey're usually a disappointment, as at first you always think they're a big barbel.

Re: Home page pictures

Johnny lets see if we can have a grown up conversation ? With out resorting to calling each other names ? Your new PB barbel you say you caught from Severn Stoke and posted a picture on here.

You said in the past that its a barbel thing and its about etiquette that barbel anglers don't name stretches ? and yet you post on here you caught your fish from Severn Stoke ?
By your own admission you have broken your own rule of etiquette ? and full of contradiction's by what you have said and stated in the past ? .

Correct me if I am wrong Johnny on B F W there is a unwritten rule of not posting a stretch of river where a fish was caught ? On the B F W gallery of fish you clearly state on the picture you posted You say it was caught from the Lower Severn ? and even on the River Severn river reports you don't say you caught from Severn Stoke ?

Lets me refresh your memory Johnny I have come in for criticism in the past when disclosing where a particular fish has been caught ?

Oh dear Jeff. You really are obsessed with me aren't you?

It's the end of the season Jeff - which is why I left my post until after the season was done, to prevent any publicity. As you already know, this fish was caught in February, so my own little rule of etiquette wasn't broken. Go back in June, try and catch it, the fish won't be there.

If you examine the picture closely, anyone who fishes the LS can tell the pic is taken at Severn Stoke, the fence is behind me Jeff, it's glaringly obvious.

Of course, I wasn't the first person to post my pic on this website though was i?

Can you refresh the memories of all the readers, and tell us who did, Jeff?

And as for this:-

Johnny lets see if we can have a grown up conversation ?

That is the epitome of irony.

Re: Home page pictures

Oh Dear...it was weird enough to congratulate the two pike captures and totally ignore the big barbel ...and considering that barbel is your species of choice as you reference past complaints to your disclosing venues,on BFW..I assume that was a certain Jeff Collins right ? The Jeff Collins that was notorious for wind ups..that plys his trade on here now.
Best ignore John if you ask me, you have nothing to answer for or prove.

Re: Home page pictures

Johnny you say I am obsessed ? . I think when you seen me post on here about the home page photo's .I am guessing even before you opened the page to see what I had written .You assumed wrongly I was going to make some comment about your photo of your barbel and how wrong you turned out to be.

Lets hope come next August / September / October / November / December and until the rest of the season . The car park is not full at Severn Stoke when the circus turns up knowing from past experience how a 14 lb fish can pack on weight ? We all know the story of red spot ?

One last point I would like to make It was on here that I that I came in for criticism for naming venues and not B F W .

Re: Home page pictures

S.S is the worst kept secret for these fish, Angling Times did a story on a 15, the picture was a giveaway as to location, I had the same fish the previous February, from the adjacent peg.with such a popular venue it's useless being secretive. These big girls are big because they are well fed, because of the 'chasers' if you will, more important they are treated well on capture, especially by novice anglers.

I think Jeff is too dim to realise these fish move though unfortunately though 1LC. In the final throes of this season just passed, the barbel, including the red spot fish weren't there anymore. This was proven by the chaser folk that were almost permanently encamped on certain swims. In fact, the final two weeks of the season saw a 15.2, a 14.5, a 13.5 and a few smaller doubles come off a totally different stretch. Every year is different on the LS, some stretches that held fish in previous seasons can be devoid of them in successive ones, as you aware. Of course, I only posted my 14 on the home page to encourage a rise from Jeff, and he duly obliged!!

BTW Jeff - as i said in my last post, enjoy the rest of your evening. x

Re: Home page pictures

Fair play to river novice. Not so long back he was hammering people for going fishing and catching PB fish during lockdown. Now he's congratulating them on going fishing and catching PBs during lockdown. Nice to see he's turned a corner and being more positive. Unless of course its not actually about lockdown at all, and just an excuse to further fuel a personal vendetta. That would just be me being cynical, I'm sure. I salute you on your change of heart, sir.

Anyway, so as not to distract from the achievements mentioned, well done to all who have pictures on the home page. I also liked the pictures of the trout. I had a good day spinning on a stillwater today. Had about 10 Jacks up to 8lb. Its a great time of year to get the lure rod out, especially after a cold and unstable winter.
