Hello Fellow D’anglers,
I have just read a quite depressing article on yet another imported and invasive water plant!
The New Zealand pigmyweed!
Latin name: Crassula helmsii
Also known as the Australian Swamp stonecrop!!
It has no known predators as it is poisonous!

It was introduced into the UK in 1904, and was banned from sale, in 2014.

It has even been found to inhabit puddles in the New Forest, “puddles”
and it has even found its way into Derwentwater in the Lake District.

It is fast growing and can form dense mats of weed down to a depth of 3 metres, starving the water of light.

It has been called the The Knotweed of the Lakes..
We certainly do not want it in any of our waters.

Keep on Fishing….
