lets have a water that's managed purely for specimen tench , ideally a clear weedy water off around at least 10 acres plus . tench waters are in decline due to too many overstocked carp waters .

are there not enough carp waters around , but very few specimen tench waters locally , tench thrive typically in clear weedy waters with low densitys off carp , perhaps only 5 carp per acre , if they do really have to be stocked .

maybe im a dyeing breed wanting some quality tench fishing ????

Agreed.

Walcot was great but mismanaged and now closed with no plans to improve.
Mythe could be fantastic with a bit of investment as could all the pools except Coppice which is just like so many waters.

They could be fantastic tench/crucian waters if they were protected from otters and floods and stocks assessed and added to with tench and crucians. Something a bit different and a true attraction for new members.

Great idea. It would be lovely to create that at Mythe.
I'm sure anglers from this end of the parish would volunteer to help.

I suppose Walcot was this and more @ one time? only walked round it once but my god it is stunning. Shame to let it go to ruin,

Totally agree. BAA is a big enough club with enough resources to be able to accommodate all angling tastes and is already doing a great job, but finding suitable waters to develop (or just simply let them be...) tench fisheries is a hard task these days. So keep trying and best of luck!

Gravel pits make very good habitat for Tench. I was lucky in that I lived in the Cotswold Water Park for a few years, and enjoyed some cracking Tench fishing then. Gravel pit Tench also feed in the day time and brightest of conditions too, so all very convenient. Still a few pits that could be available to purchase I would think, and would provide a great addition to the 'portfolio'.

anyone remember when baa had larford lake ? that was super gin clear thou never did much cop for big tench... but the big bream made up for that.
having a gravel pit down cotswold would be great
or some of the cheshire meres .
but its ok for those who can travel or have access to car etc.
and £40 per year may not cut the cost involved.
i pay £120 per season for a lake with big tench and bream and thats cheap !
so if we had a new tench water. would people pay big money to fish it ? would you want night tickets ?

don't need night fish for tench . I agree tench will feed on the hottest off days , I say the hotter the better in fact 2 years ago I caught 2 double figure tench from gravel pit , burton on trent area in exactly these heat wave conditions .
as for night fishing for tench when I tried it had poor results , day better into dusk .
