Re: Chub

Hi Rob

Thank you for sharing this photo with some of us fellow D'anglers by e-mail last week.
So finally you found a way to post your photo of your waggler caught Fladbury Chub on this site too and share it with everybody. Well Done! It ain't easy.
We'd love to know more about this excellent session of yours during such cold conditions, especially the size and number of fish caught please. I haven't float fished a river for decades and I'd love to try again this winter now I'm heavily back into float fishing, but on slower waters, so I'm looking for some tips.

Cheers

Re: Chub

Hi Rob,

A really nice net of winter chub.
You say you caught them on the waggler, I presume mid river.
The Avon seems to be rising fast at the moment, so maybe out of sorts for such methods for a time.

Haven't fish a float on running water for years Stew !! surprised surprised

Nice one and thanks for the catch report.

Re: Chub

Hi stew mr fishy
There was about 8in on it was minus 1 when I left home plumbed up around 7ft and fortunately they were feeding right away. 5 gr straight waggler and a 14 hook to 3lb bottom maggots and casters casting to a fallen tree on the far bank, biggest one about 3.5 lb had about 15 altogether, unfortunately a cormorant surfaced right in the middle of my swim and I couldn’t get rid of it totally killed it
All the best Rob

Re: Chub

Was it the cormorant or had you caught them all anyway??
That must have been over 40lb of Chub.
Wow, well done and thanks for the setup and swim details.

Re: Chub

Many thanks Rob for the extra details.
As has been said, the photo didn't do your catch justice.
Next best thing to fishing is hearing about peoples catches, especially with extra info. smiling
