Managed a three-hour session (6-9pm) at Coomby's Farm on the way back from oxford to manchester, moving number 1 daughter's stuff from her flat at University. Not much room in the car for fishing tackle (see pic!).

River looked great, 6 inches of water on since last visit in July, and more colour. Overcast and southerly wind, in other words perfect conditions.

The fish responded well to the usual method, 8mm halibut pellet on straight lead, fishing one of the easy pegs above the footbridge at the bottom of the field directly below the car park.

Managed to get 6 barbel, best one 4.0 kgs, approx 8lbs-12oz, (see pic) plus 2 big roach.

Total weight 19.1 kgs (42-2), another brilliant evening's fishing on the Severn.

Hi Dave

I think its in the BAA waters book as Stanley, on the road between Kinlet and Highley, down the farm track across the railway line and parking in the BAA car park next to the holiday cottages at Coomby's Farm.

Re: Severn Kinlet, 7th August

Its only about 30 yards from the car park down a sloping field to the river. Unfortunately you can't drive down the field to the river bank. There are 4 or 5 good pegs at the bottom of the field between the trees. It shallows up from about 5 ft at the nearest pegs to rapids downstream just below the footbridge where the stream comes in. Depending on the conditions, barbel and chub can be found in any of these pegs, usually down the middle on the lead or feeder on 8mm halibut pellet. It's typical river severn pegs, some are sandy beaches but some are quite steep, but most have had a few steps cut into the bank. Hope this helps, good luck!
