Re: holding barbel in a keepnet

Do you ever get the feeling it's gonna kick off again?? grin It's a shame as mickgrove made some really good points there which the EA/Clubs would have to address if season changes were to be made.

The Barbel in ponds and koi carp comparisons are a bit moot but the chaps still entitled to his opinion Onelastcast, can we keep it polite pleeeeeeeaaase

Re: River Mease

I fished it a few seasons back now, keep meaning to return but haven't. Its proper wild river fishing all twists and turns and rather delightful. It is really small though and as others have said best travel light and be willing to rove. I did the whole stretch but couldn't fish anywhere in the trees as it was summer and overgrown. The rest varied between spots where I couldn't get a bite (trotting maggot) and spots where there was a few obliging chub in the 2-3lb bracket. I didn't get any other species other than chub that day.

Is it worth a 45min drive? Of course, but don't expect too much

Re: Online/sat nav map of car parks

Great work Flat rodded, whilst a sat nav would double the value of my car I can see the value in what you have done, nice job.

Re: EA Closed Season Consultation

That's the crux of the matter Brummy it's that 100% doesn't go back in to fishing, If all our fees went to the Angling Trust and fish legal it would be better than the EA getting it. Think we'd all be happy to pay more if we saw something of a return.

I set a goal of fishing 100 rivers a few years back and now am on 110 but I saw no enforcement bailiffs, not one, but on my journey around the South, South East, West Country,East Anglia and the Midlands I saw a lot of rivers on the edge through pollution, poaching and abstraction. And some that will hold no fish for the next generation.

Until we see 100% of our fees reinvested in river and waterway habitat improvement and protection we shouldn't advocate giving any extra funds
