Re: Fish Care Barbel

That's shame Terry, like you I got the self timer camera set up so that it actually takes much less time than weighing a fish and resting a fish is usually done whilst in the river I'll take as long as it needs

I've always thought the Severn fish were always in good nick, were you fishing a stretch with lots of holidaying anglers? I think this year with the water high and coloured they have been coming out well to basic legered set ups and some of those I've seen near some of the cabins have been the usual silly season sorts, not all of course but it only takes one

Bailiffs and work parties

Bumped into a group working Stanley/Kinlet Monday, they were strimming/cutting pegs all morning and I expertly showed them how NOT to get a bite running a stick float as they stopped behind my peg for a chat. By this time it was well in to the afternoon and they looked like they had already done a good shift.

It fished well on the whole, despite the best pegs being taken. The same pegs were taken the next day but the difference was there was more pegs to fish this time thanks to the guys who had take the time and effort to make them more accessible

Just wanted to say thanks and keep up the good work

Re: Trying To Find and Fish the River Mease.

I fished it the other year at Harlaston only found the wooded section to be overgrown but the twisty farmland bit above the footbridge was fine. This was late summer and there was a few swims to do enough roving, P.s it took me 3hrs to get there and found It a lovely little river and those overgrown bits will fish well come winter.

Some rivers are seasonal and will be naturally overgrown in summer, I hope we keep these little rivers

Re: River Anker Bolehall

Basic description is It's pretty much the width of a canal and has plenty of tree/bushes but not many shallows, waders wont help much unless you want to cook in them, the path was quite narrow and lots of nettles were being strimmed the day I went there. I had a nice chub just under 4lb and lots of small roach and perch trotting maggot. There was plenty of others there on the lead, the barbel are thin on the ground but do go to a good size.

This was from a couple of seasons back so hopefully it's of some help

Re: Roll on the 16th June

Been some cracking photos of the Salmon, Trout and Grayling on the main page, not to mention Shad, also been good to hear of all the good work that's been going on from the fisheries team. This forum is quiet all year round anyway
