Re: £200 plus for a days fishing - Are you mad?

You only have to watch the news Tracker and see some people show a complete disregard for the rules and think they can bend the rules when it suits them.

Hopefully this nightmare will be over soon and we can get back to some normality ?

Re: Breaking lock down rules ?

Johnny just out of curiosity are you a football fan and follow your local team W B A ? Correct me if I am wrong Johnny you do live in West Bromwich ? Maybe football is not your thing ?

You say the Lower Severn is your nearest venue .Having checked on google earth Severn Stoke is 36 miles away from West Bromwich ? Having checked Kenpsey on google earth that is 33 miles from West Bromwich ?

Checking other BAA venues on google earth Blackstone is only 22 miles , Knowle sands another BAA venue which again is only 22 miles away from you . Quartford is only 20 miles away all checked on google earth ?

One final point Johnny the BAA loads of canals you can fish that are all local to you all within a short traveling distance of West Bromwich ? You even asked the question on this forum a bout canal fishing ? I suppose now the river season is coming to an end . When the warmer weather arrives ? Will you be fishing your local canal ? when the season ends ?

So I can only assume going by what Chris said Had the police pulled you over They would of had ever right to send you on your way back home ?

The good news is that it looks like travel restrictions will be ending soon and we will be able to travel as from as we like ?

Tight lines for the future Johnny

Re: What's wrong with these forums?

One suggestion I could make . Night permits have to be applied for by post . Why not change it to applying for one on line Fill in your details membership number and date of night you are going to use it etc etc Pay on line and then just print it off . Would be a lot easier than by post ?

Re: Breaking lock down rules ?

Here is a quote from what Chris posted earlier

''On a side note, one thing to be aware of which the police can do, is to instruct you to return home if they feel you have travelled an unreasonable distance. This, again, is entirely subjective, however if you have travelled past other venues en route, you would have a hard time explaining why you couldn't have just fished one of those. If your closest available water is 30 mins away, then that is deemed to be your local one. If its 200 yards away then that is local. But anyone planning to go fishing, just be aware that you may be asked to pack up. This doesn't mean you've committed an offence, but failure to comply with such a request is an offence ?

Just out of curiosity Johnny when you left home to drive to the Lower Severn . How many venues did you drive past you could of gone to before you got to the Lower Severn ? Are there any canals close to where you live ? How about the W/Avon or the middle Severn .I am sure you know the answer to that question better than I do
Lets see how honest you really are Johnny and admit that there are venues you could of gone to fish . That are closer to you than the Lower Severn ?

The seasons ends shortly and you can go and fish you local canals Johnny smiling

Re: Breaking lock down rules ?

In answer your your question Rob Yes there is no law in how far you can travel to go fishing .

Unless you live on another planet to the rest of us . There is a rule that said if you go fishing you have to stay local agreed by the government and the Angling trust its there in black and white on there website .

I am only quoting what the government and the Angling Trust agreed ? and if you get caught breaking those rules . I can only assume the police have the discretion to issue you with a fixed penalty fine of £200
