Re: Unhooking Mats & Handling of Fish

You wouldn't sleep in a bed that's been used by someone else without changing the sheets and quilt cover first, but you'd put a fish on a mat that's been used for another fish!!!
No wonder fisheries are rife with diseased fish.
An experienced angler would know how to treat a fish without the need for a mat.
If the grass is good enough for TV celebs such as the late John Wilson, Matt Hayes, etc.... then its good enough for me.

Re: Wasperton

Fished it yesterday for the first time, Not see the venue before and didn't really know if I was in the best area. Must say, it looks a smashing bit of water, cant wait to try it in the warmer months.
Anyway, it was a struggle. Didn't have a bite on the tip, tried maggot, bread and worm, and only had a handful of small roach and dace on the stick float and maggot.
It was freezing cold, only 2 degrees and the water was very clear which probably didn't help.

Re: Wasperton

Thanks for the reply Peter, lots of useful information.
I'm thinking of breadflake, cheesepaste, and maybe worms for the chub.
I've not done much predator fishing and I haven't actually seen the venue before so I'm looking forward to doing a bit of exploring.
Maybe see you there one day

Wasperton

Hello everyone. Recently got myself a BAA card after a long lay off from river fishing. I'd be grateful of some help and information on some of our venues I'm hoping to try over the coming weeks.
I'm going to start with a trip to the River Avon at Wasperton this weekend after some roach and maybe a chub or two. Any information on areas to try, and best baits would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Brian
