It sounds like it shouldn't be fished at all if its in that state for fish welfare.

This is my first season as a member and I'm obviously only just beginning to discover some of the waters. I'm looking for Barbel/Chub at the start of the river season and wondered if anyone could give any advice on stretches to target on either Severn or Avon that's likely to have swims available.
I live in The Forest of Dean so as southerly as possible would be ideal.

I caught a steady stream of Bream in the 4-5lb bracket a few weeks ago on the float. My swim was like a jacusi but other areas looked lifeless so i gues its very much about finding them first. Also, on the right gear they actually fight back - 4lb line and float rod.
