Winter CarpingHere's a cracking 17lb 2onz Mirror I banked at the week end, along with an 8lb Common and a smaller 7.5lb Mirror. I'd blanked the last the times I fished, changed tactic and bingo 3 fish in an afternoon. That's a new personal best mirror for me, over the moon.

Apperley PoolsCan any one advise about current access and parking at Apperley pools? It's not a million miles for me to drive, but with short days, i don't want to waist time driving there to find the car park is like a bog , the access or bank sides completely over grown.

Re: Lock at Mythe PoolPaul Roberts, I fished it a few weeks back and didn't have any trouble with the lock. Blanked the fishing though, terribly weedy at the caravan park end. Can any body give me advise about access from the garden center end ? and the fishing there in general ?

Re: StubbsAs a new comer to the BAA I walked the track from the road to the pool today to see what the score was based on the last thread. The track is solid stone, with a few deep water filled pot holes (5-6 inches) and runs to within about 100M of the pool. Any 4x4 would be absolutely fine, there's a short muddy section at the bottom of the hill ( by some horses ) which could be troublesome with only 2 wheel drive and ground clearance maybe also an issue for normal cars in two or three places. I won't be taking my VW van down there, but would be happy to drive it carefully in the wife's Toyota Rav4. Hopefully this will be helpful to others looking for information.

Re: Otters back at RetreatIt's a shame if fish stocks are being depleted by otters, but "we" ( the land owner / BAA ) have gifted them a stocked larder. It's up to "us" to protect what we have stocked, with the correct fencing. I've fished retreat pool 1 twice in the last three weeks because it's local to me, blank first time, a lovely 13lb mirror on Friday 6th. So i have to say i'm chuffed with the fishing there so far.
