Re: Stacklands in the news again!

As I've fished here several times since we got it, I consider myself a regular there now. And I have to say this , great work bailiffs!!!!! I've spoken to both as well as the farmer and on Saturday I also met and had a nice chat with his daughter as she checked the sheep. All are pleasant friendly people and have every right to check us as many times as they need.
I also saw the sale of stack lands advertised at the time .. Asking price £40/50k inc rights of access but with the cooperation of the farmer, I think we got a bargain if that was the final price and it is just that A FARM!!!! So we need to be careful what we leave for the sake of the sheep etc..
Lets all be more polite to the bailiffs as after all they are volunteers !! Would you do it? No? Think they deserve a chocky biscuit not a mouthful!

Re: River Teme

Last weekend I tried 4 rivers in 4 days... Snapped 12lb braid on the Wye...!!!
Blankety blank on the Severn..!!
A fleet of boats on the Avon..!!
Then on Sunday afternoon with little hope I decided on my local stretch at Doddenham on the Teme. All the talk of poor fishing and no fish ringing in my head I sat in the rain with only one rod out , more snoozing than fishing, when the bites came.
I lost one nice fish and landed one lovely 8lb ish barbel in superb condition. Great end to the weekend and I'd say a great indicator that the Teme is as magical as ever.
I fished the end few pegs downstream one or two with nice easy flat bank.

Re: Rubbish left at knowle sands 1-2

im glad like me that some here pick up rubbish from others...its just part of life...im not a parent, but i guess all here that are do this daily !! No point saying "its not us" as all the rubbish is tins of luncheon meat boilie bags and beer!! A bin in some carparks would be of help to those of us who do pick up other peoples litter and cant fit it it all in our boots. But i understand that these bins need emptying too...
I would say this though night fishing seems to attract more rubbish..ie more food for the angler to keep them awake, fires and the excuse of not seeing the litter in the dark...Knowle Sands has a NO NIGHT FISHING policy according the BAA book and website so where did you get the permits ? Has this changed? If you are there regularly at night and see others phone a bailif...or police..they do actually respond !!

Re: Stacklands new pegs

fished on thursday evening and again had a lovely barbel and this time a chunky chub from the shallow stretch up at the top...as i left at 8.30 I met the farmer at the gate ..thanks for a great venue i told him ..he wasnt very happy that 3 other cars where still there at that time ..it wasnt dark another 20 minutes or so but i said sorry if its a problem.he replied he wished it was still a salmon fishery !!! I think we all need to keep to any rules he may have as this is a stunning venue and we could easily lose it...lets prove to him that coarse anglers can be responsible CLEAN friendly people by monitoring ourselves and tidying up leaving early etc ..can someone official contact him and ask regarding any issues he has with evening times..i know club rules etc but if he wants something different id be happy to abide with any times he wants.

Re: no pegs

i also fished severn stoke that morning..after seeing that 5 6 and 7 where booked for the contest i walked up to my usual spots in the other fields 1 to 4..just me and one other guy the whole morning at least 12 very accessable pegs the first few on very flat stable rocks, continuing up the field to the bend most pegs have good "steps" to the bank . Apart from the constant row boats using that stretch as the turning circle to return to upton !!!! it fished well with some nice Bream coming out . I can see why the bank clearing team may have not cleared as many pegs downstream as this fishery has ample good clear pegs already and they have to concentrate on other places which dont.
So id say do book the venue but maybe if there are older or more unstable members book the other field !! Its a great venue !! Or maybe book the whole stretch and have a new policy of letting other members who show up fish the pegs you arent using...i say this as i did turn up last year to find a contest on there only to be told to "bugger off" in a very non friendly manner even though i was already fishing when they arrived and whilst packing up my gear was told by another in their group that they expected 7 or 8 people to be coming....theres room for 30 id say at least....we need some more friendly banter between contest and non contest anglers we are all in the same Association after all.
