Just wonder how did you recognise he was polish? (not Romanian, Hungarian, Lithuanian etc) Anyway i hope you have reported him.

For us it doesn't really matter if they are polish, english, romanian, asian etc. They are just poachers and all of them needs to be treated in the same way.

Re: Licence Dodgers and Poaching

Of course lot of poachers exactly know the rules and they may just use it as an excuse. But signs could show that BAA is doing something about that. Of course it does matter what would be on the signs. Probably "C&R only" in few languages wouldn't help a lot but writing something like "hidden cameras in use" "new anti poaching BAA policy" etc. so they will think twice before kill any fish.

Same with clear instructions to baa members - poachers will read it as well, they probably wouldn't stop poaching but may target not baa waters just choice something "easier".

The worst is doing nothing.

Re: Licence Dodgers and Poaching

I'm Polish, for about 2 seasons BAA member, sadly i can just tell that BAA has no idea how to tackle the problem. Members don't know what to do when they spot someone poaching or breaking rules. Looks like it's just the easiest way to blame everyone who has got EE accent. Last week ive been fishing ladyham strech and met baa baliff, he was so suprised when i showed him NON-Fishing license for my girlfriend, we spoke about the problem and he asked me if i'd like to be volunteer bailiff - i said yes, of course and gave him my card. And of course there is no response from the club.
There are few simple things that could be done such as:
-signs in few languages
-combined ee&en bailiff patrols
-clear instruction for members "what to to when spotted poaching"
-BAA rules translated to other languages
and many others

...where there's a will there's a way...
