Halesowen RBL club match fished today on the lower Severn at Ripple 10/09/22

With some extra water and colour in the river, apart from the leading weights, some anglers struggled for bites. Bream were the order of the day, all caught on a ground bait feeder.

2nd Lawrie Mulheron 23 - 7 - 0

3rd Gary Weaver 22 - 3 - 0

Halesowen RBL club match fished at Blackstone 18/09/22

This section of river fished very hard today with good anglers struggling for bites and this is reflected in the result apart from the winner. The deeper water downstream fished better than the shallower pegs.

1st Sean Waite 18 - 9 - 0 ( Sean feeder fished caster with maggot on the hook to land a double figure barbel along with some good perch )

2nd Geoff Garrish 4 - 4 - 0

3rd Malcolm Merrick 2 - 1 - 0

4th Steve Horton 1 - 5 - 0

Cradley Heath Labour AC match fished at Arley left bank 11/ 09 /22

Yet another match where we have had to move anglers from pegs before pegging out. Why don't they just check the water bookings, and this was despite two notices pinned to the access gate the night before informing everyone that it's booked for a match. That was not the end of the problems as swimmers, canoes and paddle boarders blighted the match length throughout the five hours. I'm sure the weights were going to be a lot higher without this never ending problem.

1st Stewart Mulheron 20 - 2 - 0 ( Barbel to 7lb along with chub caught on stick float with caster and maggot )

2nd Sean Waite 15 - 11 - 0

3rd Mick Whitmore 13 - 14 - 0

4th Paul Skidmore 7 - 6 - 0

5th Lawrie Mulheron 6 - 12 - 0

Re: A little help please ladies and gents

Hello Reg,

Just a quick comment on the issue of negotiating stiles between fields. I agree that gates would be a lot easier but if the BAA only have the fishing rights we have to rely on the landowner whoever they are to provide the gates. A classic example of this was the recent rebuilding of the fire damaged bridge at Bidford which I believe the work was done by the local council.

Re: River Contest Results - Canal & River Trust = interesting reading and catches 07/08/22

Reg, I get loads of results of matches throughout the Midlands every Sunday night through e mail from Steve Cope, he took over from his dad Ken Cope who was correspondent for the Angling Times and The Express and Star. I forward these results to all our members in Halesowen RBL and Cradley Heath Labour. Obviously I only send our results from BAA waters to this site but all our other matches are sent to Steve along with loads of other matches all across the Midlands. I'm a bit reluctant to give other peoples phone numbers and e mail addresses out but I'm sure you can get in touch with him or his wife Lynn and ask them to put you on their mailing list to receive the results.
