Re: Quarry plans in the Charlton and Cropthorne area

If that's the case then it doesn't hurt to acknowledge the post. General courtesy.

Re: Quarry plans in the Charlton and Cropthorne area

Amazing how a few missing pegs at pershore can get a response but potentially losing whole stretches is totally ignored.

Re: Retreat Farm Pools- Tench fishing!

Needs to be fenced. That investment would safeguard the fishery. It's no point to re-stocking as the otters will stay whilst there's a supply. Baa lost the best stillwater they had in Walcot and I fear the others will go the same way through a combination of predation and flood escapees.

Quarry plans in the Charlton and Cropthorne area

Wychavon Council are currently proposing the location of quarries in the area and maps have been published of potential sites.

To put it bluntly they are very significant. Both sides of the Avon from from Lower Moor area down towards Wick and at the back of Charlton spanning to the A44 near Wood Norton.

I did email the BAA recently as there were information meetings being held by the parish councils but heard nothing back. I know in the past that the BAA have been caught out and lost fishing rights due to being in the dark over planning applications and stated they would welcome being told. It appears that this may not be the case after all.

If these sites went ahead then you could probably kiss goodbye to several Avon stretches. Hopefully, someone at the BAA investigates, registers an official interest and is able to offer an opinion during the consultation stage.

Re: Hampton Loade

If you walk the stretch or take the cycle track you will see a large fenced area that is used to breed and hold ducks captive. Presumably, they have been set free. I have fished that section whilst they have been shooting and it's not a pleasant experience. Surely there is some sort of law about shooting in public areas?
