Is it just me or is anyone else surprised that the picture of the young boy, with his 'first pike' has been published. All of us, young and old have a big responsibility to take utmost care of all fish.
All fish stocks are suffering due to human and natural predation and other factors.
To see him looking over the fish while it is lay on gravel, with no protection from an unhooking mat etc is quite upsetting. The pike may have been totally okay after it's experience and swam off strongly, but shouldn't we be advocating better fish care to junior anglers than this!
