The Angling Trust Website advertises a British Company based in County Durham that manufactures Recycled Plastic Fishing Pegs, Walkways and Bridges that have a 25 year guarantee.
These look just the job for our Fisheries. Even if we do not own the fishery then we should be encouraging the landowner to use these where we have issues like we do at Wick where the bridge was reported as being in a poor state.

Hope this can help

Keep on Fishing

Love your enthusiasm Reg...
Our £40 a year membership isn’t going to get us much!
Plastic pegs...from £300+ each!
Don’t think any land owners will buy into that.

Worrow Hornyoldtoad, and a Happy New Year.
Yes plenty of enthusiasm
The good point that you raised got me thinking, and using me abacus.

If we are fishing a peg on rivers = 9 months therefore with an expected 25 year lifespan a £300 peg would cost £1.33 a month over the 25 years or £1 a month on our lakes which we can fish every month of the year.

we all pay our annual membership which are exceptional value for money!

But at the end of the day there are things that need to be addressed, such as Bridges like at Wick that have collapsed, stiles that are difficult to negotiate for us older members, and some pegs that need to be replaced to make a pitch fishable.

Keep on Fishing
