Fished Stacklands today and had a pretty successful visit - whilst sat on one of the concrete plinths, what appeared to be a fairly large salmon (definitely well into double figures) decided to cruise alongside me. What made it weird was that body appeared to be completely covered in lightish patches, almost like camouflage, Can anyone shed any light on this?

Re: Mystery fishprobably a kelt, a spawned out salmon. I saw one last week in the margins on the middle Severn, although not as big as the one you saw.

Re: Mystery fishI've seen that fish unless there's more than one like it. It seemed to me to look like an old fish with scar damage.

Re: Mystery fishWels Catfish? - have seen one of these myself not on a BAA water - not saying where though. Mottled with creams and black markings and swimming high up in water. Obviously didn't look anything like a Salmon though!

Re: Mystery fishProbably fungus infection, there wouldn`t be any kelts around at the time of year posted, you see them after spawning, up to early April, if "well mended" they are again bright silver but slim. They have also started feeding again.
