Pikeman do zander for my lads

Hi all my lads aged 8 and 10 are desperate for a pike or zander. I know what I'm doing as that's what I used to fish for but from a boat. So not so sure where to try from the bank. I tried naford and pershore with lures yesterday evening with no luck. They won't sit all day but are pretty good. Not expecting any hot spots to be given away just a fighting chance probably best on deadbaits. We live nearest to the Severn but happy to try Avon too. Thanks.

Is it best above the weir or in the weir pool or the run off?

Yep fladbury always good for pike. I fished kinlet last week had pike trouble all day fished the first few pegs before the foot bridge. normally carry a spinner but just my luck left it at home. Saw some nice fish caught at grimley down stream last year on spinners as well good luckgrin

If you fancy a walk try Eckington, as far as you can go upstream pegs to the Swan Neck...or easier would be Tewkesbury at Lower Lode, better for kids, you can sit on the Boathouse Lawn, or even pop across to the pub via the ferry, for a lemonade of course! £5 for the DT

I think I am right in saying the Severn Zander record came from here.

Pikeman there are definitely zander at Fladbury - saw one about 2 - 3lbs-ish launch itself at a shoal of bleak the other day, came 2ft clear of the water which made positive identification very easy.

There's also a heck of a lot of pike; it's almost impossible to fish for silvers when the water's clear as they are continually being grabbed off the hook by the local esox... I also had a good low double watch my every move as I was resting a barbel prior to release; didn't fear for the fish, it was big enough not to be lunch, but I was worried about my fingers...!

I'd try the Lower Avon if you want more zander thrown into the mix, Tywning and Bredon, plenty of pike there too. In fact there seems to be pike everywhere at the moment. I fish for barbel, and I've had one 9lb on meat on the Avon, and a 6lb fish on pellet!

Several times I've had follows from pike when reeling in small roach and chub etc.

Fill your boots.
