Re: river tench

I had one out of Pershore right bank a couple of years back, about 3lb. I think they're in many stretches of the Avon, particularly the slower moving sections. Sounds like a good challenge you've set yourself!

I might even give it a try myself. Probably concentrate on the margins mostly, and of course early morning/evening being the best times to target.

Let us know how you get on mate, I'll do the same myself if I get round to it.

Good luck.

Re: river tench

Seen a few Tench below the BAA stretch at Wasperton over the years, two last season, where the water is slower and deeper. One gets caught occasionally(very),also saw a very big Rudd, rolled under my rod tip while fishing last Summer.
Good luck with your quest.
My challenge this season? A Zander from Wasperton,in daylight obviously.

Re: river tench

Always Tench caught in Evesham town during matches . As has been said though , any where deep and slow with marginal cover is a good bet .

Re: river tench

I have caught many at Pershore LB just where the river splits before the lock. I use either sweetcorn or worm in the margins. I've also caught on meat in the same spot when fishing for Barbel.
If you live close to Tamworth try the river Anker and the Fazeley canal. Often catch in both venues.

Hi Matt,
If you go to the “Search” Tab on the Menu Header

Then type in Tench, or whatever you might want info on it will bring up all references going back over the years from the input from the Forums!

It is worth a read.
Tight lines and good luck in your quest for a Tench from a River.

Keep on Fishing
