Uckinghall - where have all the Zeds gone?

I have fished Uckinghall pretty regularly this winter for zander but have not had a single fish yet. All I have had is pike up to 9 lbs.
I was wondering if anyone has had any at all this winter from this pool?

It then got me thinking about the age of the doubles that came in during the summer of 2007. If they were say 4 years old in 2007 that means they would now be about 17 years old. And how old do zander last - typically a max of 16 years apparently. So maybe the big ones have all died of old age. I don't expect the match anglers to shed a tear but lots of predator anglers fish this pool in the hope of zeds - maybe they simply aren't there anymore.
There are younger ones in there of course - I've caught them from about 1 lb up to 4 lb mark, which must be from the older doubles spawning. But maybe with the recent frequent floods these have moved into the adjoining new gravel pit? Either that or I'm losing my touch.

I'd imagine that a fresh influx of new fish is currently underway.

Probably not there at all Jeff, they come and go from the river, that's how why they were there in the first place. Same as the Grass carp.

Fished it 4 times so far over the winter with both lures and dead baits. Not had a single touch on the deads from either pike or zander or even eels. Had 3 small Jack's to about 5lb on lures and that's it. It probably does need to work up a little for the Zeds to start actively hunting again so maybe in a few months trying again

5 times this winter and just jack no zander at all. I just wonder if any perch is there? Any one had luck with perch?
