Doddenham BAA fishing confusion

Hi All,
I'm confused. A couple of weeks ago I went to a stretch of the Teme I have been fly fishing for a couple of years now, which I thought was Knightwick but actually I think it might be Doddenham. Anyway, it was close season for coarse fish - I was fly fishing for brownies - and had to battle my way through the gate which was very overgrown. There are BAA Fishing signs on the gate. Got into all my clobber - waders etc and got to the river only to find a big sign on a tree saying "private fishing not BAA". So I packed up and went home, hot bothered and rather pissed off. Checking the website where to fish section we still have fishing at Doddenham, so now I'm confused. The coordinates for the entrance gate are 52°12'19.4"N 2°22'27.8"W - can anyone confirm that we can ignore the sign on the tree and if so why hasn't it been taken down by the BAA to avoid this confusion, as it spoilt that trip for me.
Thanks
Glen

Re: Doddenham BAA fishing confusion

Hi Glen
I have just looked at the 2021 Guide to BAA Waters on page 63 the River Teme - Doddenham
The coordinates that you have given do differ very slightly to the details in the Guide
I have had to use the ~ in place of the degree symbol as I do not have it on my iPad.

Which are 52~12’19.4”N / 2~22’28.1W

But I agree with you that one of our Bailiffs should go to the Doddenham stretch and make secure the Boundary’s of the BAA Water, and remove any conflicting signage!

Keep on Fishing

Re: Doddenham BAA fishing confusion

Went to Doddenham again on Saturday and fished this time. Attached is a photo of the sign in question - I don't remember seeing it last year.

Had a reasonable fly fishing session with a small brownie and a decent grayling on nymphs. Also tried with baits later and had a chub about 2 lb but no signs of barbel - suffice to say an otter rolled in front of me which can't have helped the fishing much.

A response from someone at the BAA would be appreciated - thanks.

No reply yet - would be nice to just get a view from the bailiff that covers this stretch please - even nobody is going to take the sign down - at least I know I'm within my rights to fish there. Nothing posted on FB as far as I can see.
