Hi Gang

Today I've watched TV more often than I have for a while and have been annoyed by some of the "shtopid" and BL**DING OBVIOUS things that I've heard on News Reports.

1. The recent cost of living crisis means that food bills have seen an increase of £800.
Is that £800 per day, week, month, Vat quarter, half year or annum???

2. Farmed trout breeders are now supplementing the diet of their stock with LIVE maggots having realised after all these years that the fish based pellets that they have been force feeding them on does their digestive system no good (not enough GOOD BACTERIA in their diet). Well who'd have thought that?

3. Welsh Water are happy to announce the completion of a new Water Treatment Plant on the Wye that will reduce the phosphate levels in the water because it's harmful to FISH.
Sorry, but there was no mention of the fact that phosphates are harmful to all life. The plant life, invertebrates, crustaceans and breeding grounds that the fish need to survive are just as important as the FISH themselves. None anglers will be thinking "It's just about the fish. Who cares???"

Here's hoping that Wild Swimmers, Boaters, Nature Watchers and Twitchers will also add their names to the Petition for a debate in Parliament about the state of water quality in the UK. It's not just about us anglers.

Keep scanning the water and bank sides and enjoy the wild life that's still about while you can (They may not be about for long and some of the birds I've seen Paddle Boarding recently are Crackers - slap my wrists!)

Re: Half the story media reports

Hi gb

I do thanks. I don't get out to the pub enough these days and after authorising a Vet to put one of my work's cats to sleep yesterday afternoon , I probably drank too many cans of Guinness to console myself before I had my tea, so apologies for my rant but I do find it frustrating when the media make an absolute fortune out of misinforming the public, and getting away with it too often too.

Anyway, on a lighter note. Did you and Mrs. gb123 enjoy your special day(s) last weekend?

Looking forward to meeting you some day with the rest of the gang, who, I hasten to add, are not all Angry Old Men like me.

Re: Half the story media reports - 2022 saw 824 Sewage Releases per Day

Hi Stew1955,
Absolutely agree with your sentiments and sense of frustration at the lethargy of Joe Public regarding the diabolical way in which our Rivers and Seashore is used as an Open Sewer by too many Water Utilities, Businesses, the Agricultural sector and the Public!

Today Friday 31/03/2023 the BBC reported the facts from the Environment Agency that the Daily Discharge of Sewage in 2022, was 824 incidents which was a reduction on the previous year!
BUT
That was only because it was a Drier Year, not because of anything that the Water Utilities or the EA had done Proactively!!

Nuff said about that.
