Re: Lower Severn or Avon for Thursday/Friday??

I'd be tempted to fish the Avon, somewhere there's a bit of depth. Something like Wick. Pensham, Nafford or Eckington.
Personally I would float fish, but looking at the latest river levels, and weather forecast for tonight (Wednesday) it might be best to ledger/feeder. Hope for the best, but my expectations would be few and far between.
I'm likely to be at Nafford tomorrow, to try out some newly made Avon floats ( 4+ and 5+ grammes)
and hopefully I will catch a few.
Best of luck wherever you go.

Re: Lower Severn or Avon for Thursday/Friday??

The Avon is a tad warmer than the Severn at the moment. I fished the Lower today (blanked), but the water temp was only about 3c, probably due to snowmelt in from the hills. A mate fished the Avon, he reckoned it was 5ish.

You never know though, air temps aren't bad over the next day or two.

Hornytoad - there's always a chance of chub or barbel at Fladbury. You'll definitely catch chub there on bread or cheesepaste, I had some decent chub there last season.

Not fished it this season though, gets a bit busy for my liking, although it's fine at this time of year.

Re: Lower Severn or Avon for Thursday/Friday??

Nafford used to be good for me and others too regarding big Barbel, but like most other stretches on the Avon numbers have dwindled but to be specific about certain areas as to 13 lb plus Barbel being caught is designed to cause concern to those that spend many hours fishing for them there.
You yourself are particularly obsessive over keeping you secret venues a secret, so why keep mentioning Nafford on here Jeff?
It certainly would not be in the best interests of the Barbel and certainly could ruin the stretch due to too much scrutiny . If you are any sort of Barbel angler you just dont broadcast such on the net unless you intend to be spiteful.
I am not a selfish bloke and have been more than happy to help anyone with what I might know but this does no one any good especially the Barbel.

Ahh the Jeff effect, you were warned.
Anyway Toad hope you get your string pulled, plenty of silvers down there but can be frustrating like anywhere else. That hill is a bit of a climb, especially after a blank, I should know.

It appears once again Smarty has thrown his toys out of the pram again because I was trying to help some one catch fish . Smarty you seem to have a obsession with some guy by the name of Jeff . Have you ever considered getting psychiatric help for you obsession with this guy called Jeff

If you had bothered to read the thread '' Whats your favourite You would of seen I posted the BAA stretch at Bushley on the Severn . I am all ways happy to share and help any one I can put more fish on the bank . Regardless of it being barbel .chub bream and roach .
If you have a problem with that , Then I suggest you get over it and move on .

Well, I for one am very grateful of any information that can increase my fishing pleasure and give me a chance of maybe catching a fish of a lifetime.
Why would anyone knowingly put someone on the wrong path or let them fish in an area they know is hard going? That's just down right mean.
I've only been fishing the rivers a couple of years after giving up on the match scene and it's become obvious to me, on this forum and others, along with fishing sites on social media that the barbel anglers think they are the bee's knees. Almost every thread or post always turns to barbel for some reason.

Agree with all of the above, mixer you’re right, and I think everyone on here would be pleased if he was banned off here, brings nothing but arguments and criticism yet can’t take it when he gets any back and starts crying acting the victim

There were quite a few at Nafford today, so I'm told, no idea how anyone fared, but it couldn't have been any worse than I did at Severn Stoke, five hours, four swims and not a touch. River well up, and I suspect a fair bit of roadsalt in there.

Re: Lower Severn or Avon for Thursday/Friday??

Never heard so much dross in all my life... Brummy whatever I sent you pm regarding if I could help in getting you first double Barbel, just after Jeff posted up that video of me abusing Barbel. This was before this next round of Jeff Collins trolling.
You Stu, well what can I say, you and I don't see eye to eye, fair enough, but that's fine you seem to have a thing about Barbel anglers, I don't match fish, and I have a different approach to my fishing believing it is better to seek out for one's self fish could as opposed to just catching, we fish you match blokes catch.
Barbel is what I do, and yes they are pressured with predation and other things, so it would be prudent perhaps not to broadcast where certain specimens have been caught down to the peg locations. You may not agree with that sentiment but it is common sense, considering Barbel anglers make up for most of the membership it might be worthwhile for even you to give that some thought.
BAA hold some of the most important Barbel waters in the country, it is the future and worth protecting, not only for the Barbel but for BAA too.
Of course you will reply in your normal style , and perhaps so will Jeff and whoever, thats fine, pointless me reading it.
See ya! grin

You keep accusing me of being some guy by the name of Jeff and I am some kind of troll ? Its funny that its you that keeps upsetting guys on this forum . You seem to have a history of it which goes back in time and thats a fact . If any one dares to disagree with you . I suggest its you that see's your self as some kind of keyboard warrior and heaven help any one who disagree's with you .Its strange that it is you OneLastCast that the guys on this forum have asked for you to be removed from this forum with the trouble you cause I think you will find that the BAA more than just fishing for Barbel . If you have a problem with me helping some put more fish on the bank . Then it is your problem and not mine

Neil Smart I am going to ask you what I consider a reason question . You say it would be prudent perhaps not to broadcast where a certain specimen had been caught down to peg locations . You may not agree with it but it is common sence . Perhaps you can explain why and was it common sence to send 2 private messages on facebook to the guy who holds the current River Severn Barbel record . and was it common sence when he refused to tell you and deleted you from his list of facebook friends ?
