Re: StacklandsIt's the Wye, always a beautiful river to fish. Stacklands is defined by the upstream stretch being shallow with plenty of weed growth the middle is average depth and the bottom section deeper near the footbridge. The Wye is no longer a river you can just turn up and guarantee a Barbel, you have to work at it. Expect long periods of inactivity but there are feeding spells so you need to be alert.

Re: StacklandsBefore we had Stacklands I fished the Caradoc side a few times, and it was great sport, Wye and Usk dt and now 40 quid a day I believe.

Re: StacklandsHi, thanks for the updates, so sad to hear about the Barbel deaths, no excuses the message has been shouted out enough, some must be deaf.

Re: StacklandsThanks wyeangler can't believe some angler not resting fish when the river is low and warm co levels are low fish take longer to recover may be a good idea on the website to have best care practice it's bad having fish die because of neglected

Re: StacklandsIt happens unfortunately. Low Oxygen levels in the river are making the problem worse thus the recommendation to recover the fish even longer than usual. There are lots and lots of debates about the closed season. My preference would for it to be between May and August, the fish are at their most vulnerable during these months and rarely spawning in cold water in March and April.

Re: StacklandsA mate an I fished Stacklands last week. Due to breaking my ankle on opening day on another BAA water I had to fish the croft. Have had Chub from there in the past but not a knock all day for either of us. lots of silvers (some big) jumping so might take the fly rod next time.

Re: StacklandsHopefully roadworks completed now. And yes rest the fish before you even take it out for picture not the other way round. Like asking 100mtr runner to just due it again for the camera lol. Rest first pictures later. Wye has not been good in that area fished farther up and full of chub but not many barbel coming out. Still think they are spawning late?? Fish lightewr enjoy the chub and Dace. OHH and the F***ing eels had 5 last week. HATE them

Re: StacklandsEels are great news. The otters love them, which means they leave the other fish alone.
