Re: Boy's first pike

Just watched them two youtube vids of that guy expecting to see something bad but didn't really

Saw a match 'weigh in' on the Avon this year and found the fish care to be disgusting

What is worse

A fish being held for a photo and weighed then rested and released in the net?

Or a bag of fish that's rested in a keepnet then tipped flipping like mad into a weigh sling then released from a platform in to the water from what can be quite a height?

The answer is down to how you are fishing, it's difficult to be objective or self critical when it's how you've always done things, maybe looking from outside you can see the other side of the advice offered

Re: Boy's first pike

Weren't you advocating the use of a Keepnet for the retention of barbel a while back Stew? Is that more necessary than a mat? It's swings and roundabouts sometimes and I think there's always going to be differing opinions, at the end of the day it's just advice

Re: Boy's first pike

I'm in between on this one, good for the lad, nice fish but maybe use a mat, net bag, or find some soft grass next time, I think people are offering constructive advice no?

Also comments like "Trebles down the throat" don't help either. the lad caught it trotting for chub

Re: A great way to lose waters!

Good post Tracker

Sadly those people who left that can't read this because you used long words, some over five letters long!

They are thick and dirty and live in filth

My friend Pawel says thanks for the location of lots of pike on the Avon on the public forum, he will try there soon
