Re: Chub feeding on Blackcurrants - Countryfile - Episode - Wild BritainWe used to catch Chub on elderberries on the Teme below Tenbury usually in September. That was when it was full of them. Very few Chub left to go for now although the Dace are starting to recover which is a welcome sign.

Re: Marlcliff. It looks as if some of the work is being contracted out. I bumped into a couple of young guys at Arley in June who had been working on the right bank upstream of the footbridge and seemed to say that they would be doing quite a lot for BAA. They were only armed with strimmers so not sure how big their remit is but any opening up of river swims is greatly appreciated.

Re: State Of The River Wye Rivercide BroadcastI wholeheartedly agree with your very well presented views. Nothing more to add except that every member should sign any petition that appears whether local or national and put pressure on MPs, water companies and agriculture. Myself and many friends have been astounded this year by the lack of butterflies, moths and all other insects. This affects fishing as well as other aspects of all our lives.

Re: Fladbury below bridgeI regularly fish the Avon at Wasperton and Barford, Very often when the swim has warmed up and fish are feeding there will be a sudden lack of bites, The usual reason is that at least one pike has moved into the feed area to follow the fish. There are 2 choices when this happens.

Re: GraylingI have had a few this season from the Teme below Tenbury Wells. Level and temp about right at present. Best swims are steady, fairly shallow glides . Fish for 20 minutes and move on until you find them. I usually fish a six number four stick float with double maggot on 18 or 16 hook fished to drag along the bottom in current conditions. Should you be fortunate enough to catch one be very careful in handling and returning it, They fight until completely worn out and need to be unhooked gently and held facing upstream until they are strong enough to kick away.
