Re: Re: Uckinghall & Mythe

Looking for a stillwater to campaign over the close season for carp / bream / tench. Following my exploits with the pikeys at Stubbs was wondering if Uckinghall and / or Mythe might be safer trip out (!) Have heard in despatches that Apperley is fairly neglected, which seems a shame.
Any friendly advice for a new-ish member? And should I consider taking a rifle to these waters too, just to be on the safe side... :p

Re: Aggressive behaviour at Stubbs

As an update, I have reported the incident to the police. They have requested that any further situations be reported to them by BAA members.

Re: Aggressive behaviour at Stubbs

Thanks for your comments guys. The whole situation was particularly upsetting as I've just moved into the area from Essex and this was my first BAA outing. I've not had a single issue or altercation in over 40 years of fishing. Stubbs being very local to where I now live I was looking forward to a campaign on this clearly challenging water - but I hadn't factored in physical aggression...

So...putting that aside: have heard Coppice is a bit over-fished, but nothing much about Mythe? Any other recommendations welcomed by this gravel pit friendly Essex bloke?

Aside from that I am really looking forward to having a crack at the Barbel. Having never fished for them before I am sure BAA can easily redeem itself in this regard. Any recommendations for river stretches very much welcomed, but probably not Cleeve Prior..!

Aggressive behaviour at Stubbs

Anyone thinking of venturing down to Stubbs should be aware of the numerous 'youths' (nicest term I can apply) roaring around the water on quad bikes. When firmly but politely confronted they threatened to smash up my car. Charming. I went out for a quiet afternoon's fishing and am now a marked man.
