Re: Cotheridge

Problem with the Oxbow is the landowner, who has effectively blocked off the lane that leads to the fishery, no vehicles can go down there now. Pity, as the Oxbow itself has been known to produce and the swims just above it used to hold fish too. Have considered wading across from Cotheridge, but now we can't park there either I'm tempted to get the wife to drop me off at the top of Teme Lane by the Alan's Pool access and walk down to the river, thus not needing the car park. If only something could be sorted with access to the Oxbow as it's worth it in my opinion.

Re: Cotheridge

Still closed due to fly tipping, I understand. Will have a drive up there later tonight and have a look. Shame, as it's the only Teme stretch that still produces anything on a regular basis really now the oxbow is unavailable.

Re: Declining junior angling

It is sad to see, and I agree that social media/computers are mainly to blame, and those youngsters that do fish nowadays are more into selfie bags of hybrids from puddles. I have fond memories of the NFA Junior National in the early 80s (and the Schools National, whatever happened to that?). I joined the Starlets club in 1981 following a conversation with the late great Claire Legge at an open, but fished for W&DUAA in the Nationals. Learned so much from some great anglers and had the best teenage years on the riverbank learning fishing skills and an appreciation of the countryside. Kids these days are really missing out!

Wood Norton/Chadbury Meadows/Lower Moor

Wood Norton in particular needs some work on making pegs safe, just went up there for a recce and was talking to a chap who had gone in at the weekend when the area for a seat box etc, which was badly overgrown, had subsided and catapulted him into several feet of water. Chadbury in the woods is almost unfishable, only a couple of pegs, and Lower Moor could do with some reed maintenance for sure. Pity, as they all looked fishy. Will have to settle for somewhere a little more easy access. As a disabled angler it is a constant disappointment to turn up somewhere that sounds promising but is practically unsuitable, so I have to recce everywhere first. I appreciate the fisheries team can't be everywhere, but some of these places haven't been done in a good while.

Re: lindridge, eardiston access

Doddenham was unfishable weekend of 18/19 June without abseiling down the bank. Work plan says it was being done 27th June, will go back and have a look over the weekend. Not sure it's that good a stretch though.
