Re: arley

Only a matter of time before you have one, and more, d1n0.

Suggest if fishing during the day and you haven't had anything after a couple of hours or so try moving swims, makes sense to me.

Late afternoon/evening does seem to be the best time, no doubt about it, but ...they CAN be caught during the day too.

Keep at it, you'll be chuffed when it happens :o)

Gate Closed at Harbour Inn

Thought i'd give the Harbour Inn at Arley a try this afternoon.

The gate to the field is locked as there are now sheep in it, so can't drive into the field and along bank at present.

As for the fishing had a barbel around 41/2 - 5lb at 1.30, two roach and a dace on 6mm pellet.

Re: Carpark at Hampton Lode

Another key point as to whether we'll catch, is whether we sit down on a peg that's likely to produce, The middle Severn has always been 'peggy' from what I can remember, as are other rivers often. Unfortunately most of us don't have detailed local knowledge of where to be.

Anyone who knows the Severn, or any other river will tell you that some spots/pegs are mostly useless, while others are middling or very good.

Where we actually fish massively affects our chances. As long as you can make a half decent fist of fishing, where we fish and where in the peg is the most important thing to my mind.

And that's besides the river having moods/on and off days.

I've often turned up after long periods of not being able to get out, raring to go, full of expectation only to have a duff time, which could well be down to being on a duff peg, or on a duff day because other than looking at the water and trying to use at least some watercraft, i've 'plonked down somewhere', not knowing if its a good or bad peg.

Not wanting to walk too far, or having the time to do so is another restriction for most, as is wanting to be comfortable ourselves over and above thinking where the fish want to be.

Could also be down to my duff fishing of course, but I hope you see the point i'm trying to make.
