pitchisshifter, thats also one of my dreams to hit over 100lb down mythe
and iv been so close many times. as you said its "proper" fishing .
always on the feeder thou with same baits you use too.
iv also had very good weights at uckinghall, but i use float there,
roll on mid april with a nice south westery and over cast

if rivers then the severn at birds meadow and ripple good. just fish close in . near any bush etc. i would give hour max and move up a peg.
also the lower avon, mythe farm, wood end etc . again same thou have to walk from car parks .
keep moving if you can, and keep looking for any fish movement.
some good size pike in lower avon so be prepared with nice big landing net.

my first winter barbel. on the shallows down stream fladbury .
two chucks of meat, plus small chub about 2lbs.

fix the problem with flooding at uckinghall would be nice.
as jase said lose un fishable venues.
i would love the BAA to gets rights to a reservoir
we have lots of river beats so few extra new stillwaters be great .

same for me also. to the point iv not fished much since august. odd afternoon
low and clear puts me off but then spent time walking river banks just looking.
roll on winter floods ! get those barbel on the feed woop woop !
