Fished ribbesford today on the stick from 8 til 12. Took around 15lb of roach, mainly around 6-8oz and half a dozen chub around 1-2lb. I fished down by the football pitch where some good pegs have been cut out. Excellent job from everyone involved, and some good winter pegs to try. Looks well worth taking the pike tackle down there too.

Re: Ribbesford

Hi FC,
Ribbesford, now that takes me back, what memories that has raised.

Sixtyodd years ago to be precise, me and me dad would set off at 4.30 am and drive from Woodcock Street up the Hagley Road and down to Bewdley over the River which always looked great to fish, then up to the Church and turn left.
Then drive parallel to the River until dad decided where we were going to fish!
We always caught fish, every pitch we would catch fish.

The one occasion between 6am and 1pm, I had to empty my 3ft keepnet 3 times, because I could not stop catching Daddy-Ruffe.

My dad he float fished with lobworm and caught some very big Perch.

Happy Days

Keep on Fishing

Agree, probably back in the seventy’s many a good days fishing at Ribbesford. Anyone remember the old tin roofed shack along the road section for when it was raining.

Great memories, have to revisit sometime

There seem to be thousands of ruffe further down Reg. I catch loads at ripple/birds. Oddly they will nail anything wriggly within seconds, but chuck a caster out and they won't touch it. Can't beat their reaction to being handled either.

Don't know about a tin shack, I must be too young grin

Well I must be old enough, I definitely remember that tin shack on the road section. It was more just a corrugated roof held up at a crazy angle by 4 wooden posts I think. Seem to remember is was a fairly decent peg too. Though most of the road peg were pretty popular because you could park right by your peg.

Must be yonks since I fished Ribbesford, must give it a try again. Funny also to hear about the Daddy Ruffe, used to get loads of them on the Avon, but they don't seem to be quite so common there now.
