I'm looking at a first ever session at Wasperton tomorrow (Thursday) but concerned about a few suggestions of summer weed?
The downstream area seems favourite to me, but can anyone give me any current pointers please as it's a fair old drive to be disappointed?
Thanks.

Re: Wasperton

Morning Reg,
For various reasons I ended up on the middle section at Apley Estate. Naively, I was kitted up to fish the stick but it was so shallow I had to revert to a rolling Ledger and sweet corn in the middle channel. And had a nice day! Some decent chub, a regular supply of bites to my insensitive carp rod and a couple of lunges that were undoubtedly barbel but unfortunately missed!!

Still, I had fun while listing to the cricket. What could be nicer?!!!
Thanks for asking.
Still no wiser about Wasperton though!

P.S. Earlier typos now removed on return to laptop!

Re: Wasperton

Hi Phil
The attached has the direction from the T junction at the end of the Lane where you then turn left and after about twenty yards you come to the gate on your right to enter the field to take you down to the river and the Lower Section.

Take your Machete and make your own peg.

There is a good depth of water, and a healthy population of Pike!

When I fished it the water was gin clear and by popular consensus of the other anglers fishing that day the river needed a flush through, and a bit of colour.

Re: Wasperton

Reg...that lower stretch is called manor farm..if you turn right at that farm house instead of left you come to the top end of wasperton and can drive to all the pegs right down past the ever famous propeller peg... eventually you come to the spot you have highlighted called manor farm.

tight lines...

Re: Wasperton

Finally fished Wasperton today. Water low and gin clear and plagued all day by 3-inch chub, one of which went on a turbo-boosted 30 yard ride thanks to a playful pike who eventually let go. Regular bouts of lightening quick bites when through the small stuff but nothing connected with. Also used leger tactics to no avail so a frustrating but nevertheless enjoyable day trying different stuff.
Lovely stretch and will be back, if only for the tranquility! Thanks to all for last week’s advice.
