Re: Wasperton

Finally fished Wasperton today. Water low and gin clear and plagued all day by 3-inch chub, one of which went on a turbo-boosted 30 yard ride thanks to a playful pike who eventually let go. Regular bouts of lightening quick bites when through the small stuff but nothing connected with. Also used leger tactics to no avail so a frustrating but nevertheless enjoyable day trying different stuff.
Lovely stretch and will be back, if only for the tranquility! Thanks to all for last week’s advice.

Re: Wasperton

Morning Reg,
For various reasons I ended up on the middle section at Apley Estate. Naively, I was kitted up to fish the stick but it was so shallow I had to revert to a rolling Ledger and sweet corn in the middle channel. And had a nice day! Some decent chub, a regular supply of bites to my insensitive carp rod and a couple of lunges that were undoubtedly barbel but unfortunately missed!!

Still, I had fun while listing to the cricket. What could be nicer?!!!
Thanks for asking.
Still no wiser about Wasperton though!

P.S. Earlier typos now removed on return to laptop!

Re: What's wrong with these forums?

A very late reply to a thread I've only just seen - which probably says much in the first place!
I agree that the platform is very antiquated and it wouldn't cost a massive amount to upgrade it to a much more user-friendly facility.
If change were cost prohibitive I could understand any resistance; but it isn't. To be fair, perhaps implementation is hampered by a vicious circle of even minimal investment versus current use?

Two specific observations from me:

1... I agree that mandatory use of real names would benefit the overall community aspect. I understand the potential complications of data protection and general personal privacy, but if full declaration remains prohibitive or generally unwelcome, first names at the very least would perhaps ease the 'feel' and qualify the ownership of comments?

2... It seems you can't successfully monitor your own posts. Despite always ticking the box, I've never had a notification of any reply.

And finally, one general observation which is not meant to be derogatory, merely observational.

Since joining the club last year, it's become clear to me that a club with a good reputation has some lovely waters to explore but a very limited feeling of club spirit within it? (random conversations at bank side excepted)
Perhaps the membership base is too disparate for it to be practical or the human resource required to engender a collective feeling is too expensive? But early thoughts are that you carry a card for the privilege of access only. The forum experience is a perfect example of that.

Just my thoughts.

Wasperton

I'm looking at a first ever session at Wasperton tomorrow (Thursday) but concerned about a few suggestions of summer weed?
The downstream area seems favourite to me, but can anyone give me any current pointers please as it's a fair old drive to be disappointed?
Thanks.
