Re: A new underwater feature on Stubbs Pool

John
Thanks for posting this, it is truly disgusting that this has happened.

The resultant pollution from this vehicle being in the pool will have an impact on the fish stock and other wildlife that inhabit or visit this pool.

I do hope that this vehicle has now been removed from the pool and water quality testing has been/will be undertaken by the association.

Not the first time this happened there either thanks to our lovely neighbours.

I have not fished there Stew
so
I have no idea who the neighbours may be,
but are their dwellings a permanent structure?
If so the old bill should call on them.
Other than that

Keep on Fishing

Don't I remember a car being found in this pool some two or three years ago ? Or was it a different pool ?

The neighbours are well known to the police, they are a law unto themselves.

The neighbours yes. I avoid the area generally (the river stretches) because of them.

Re: A new underwater feature on Stubbs Pool

I've had some cracking barbel out of the river near Stubbs, but have avoided it for the last few years. Reports of unsavoury characters in the area and the state of the track to get down there have put me off.

The track was always quite rutted and potholed, but sounds like it's got even worse over the last couple of years.

Has anyone tried walking from the main Cleeve Prior carpark?

3/4 of a mile walk that
I would have to take a overnight bag and a Sherpa!
Does anybody fish it? Has there been any trouble lately?
I went 2 yrs ago but the police had the access closed while recovering a 4x4, so drove on....

Re: A new underwater feature on Stubbs Pool

A favourite spot of mine once, but like others have been put off by various comments, a good stretch of river as well (which I prefer to pools), Had my first ever barbel out of there, 10lb to the ounce and still my best, and several carp in the twenties from the pool. A shame as it is not far from my home. Never mind, plenty of other places. Re the photo, can't remember it being that deep.

Check out Summer with the Johnsons, on you tube, gives you an idea of what we are up against.

I've got to ask why the baa spend money on these venues when apparently no one wants to fish there? Surely if the association can give this pool up the money can be spent on more appropriate venues?

Re: A new underwater feature on Stubbs Pool

Its a real shame about this stretch of water as due to the unsavoury characters it simply puts people off . I fished it a few years ago and never went back. I had set up my gear and a fellow angler who was just taking a walk asked me if I had any bother . I was unaware of the local inhabitants but it made me nervous.....After an hour a 4 x 4 off road buggy came flying past my peg which put me on alert for the rest of the session. I couldnt enjoy the day after that so I have never gone back. I then researched the ''locals'' and found out that these are no small time criminals ...i think they even have a film made after them. They are quite infamous. It is a shame but i would rather fish elsewhere and enjoy my day than be on edge
