Re: Danery

Hello staffie

Thanks for your reply, the chap said they own the stretches opposite Knowle Sands medow 1 & 2 so do they own opposite the whole wood section at Knowle Sands also ?

Lots of new swims have been made this season opposite BAA swims on the stretch, that i though the BAA work crew had done, must be the new owners then.

So where officially does the BAA stretch at Danery opposite Knowle Sands start ?

Most Appreciated as its been a while since i have fished that side of the river and fancy a go.

Danery

Hello fellow members

Is the Danery still BAA ? Was talking to a chap who was fishing apposite Knowle Sands medow 2 and he said its now a private stretch ? New swims on that side have also been cut out ?

Re: Fish Care Barbel

Yes plenty of good fish care advice on many social platforms, so no excuses at all.

I wish i had some antiseptic wound spay that day, the stuff carp anglers use.

Re: Fish Care Barbel

Hello Hornet

It was Knowle sands, the opposite bank is Danery i believe, so all BAA controlled.

Fished Knowle a few times through the years, had five fish that day, three of them had terrible condition mouths, who ever caught them previously needs educating on hook removal. It did shock me i must admit.

If it was within a stretch where bad practice could be rife, ie free waters etc, yes i've also seen evidence as you state, but i think this is BAA waters exclusively.

I guess we all could do more for fish care, but indeed it only takes one to have such a careless approach and the damage is done.

Re: Fish Care Barbel

Totally agree Mick with your points made, if indeed a photo is required then the fish should remain in the landing net resting in the slack while you set your camera kit up, as we all know Barbel should be rested after the hard fight anyway.

My camera has a self trimmer and its just a matter of getting the camera set in position, taking your unhooking matt and collapsible water bucket/tub for keeping your catch totally hydrated in those few moments its out the river, then only when set you can transport your catch safely in the landing net to the ready made spot. Should take no longer than minutes if you are well prepared.

The pressure now on Barbel stocks are high, we all have are part to play in these times and it is indeed as you state, easy to blame other issues than looking at our own roles closer to home.

The fish i caught last week was in appalling condition, i felt guilty catching the poor devils. This was BBA members only stretch also.
