Re: Catching much?

Chub are definitely being caught more also by myself this season as i think they are now getting more of a chance to get on the bait, maybe another sign that barbel are less ? but yes totally agree with you on the meat. i remember the days when you only had to open a can of meat and they jumped out the river on it lol

Re: Catching much?

Indeed the 2019 floods was exceptionally harsh and i can remember thinking at the time what damage it would have done for our 2020 season, i know we have always had floods and barbel manage them very well, but 2019 floods were relentless on the Severn week after week. Some swims i new last year ( and years previous ) was always occupied by barbel, almost a get out of jail card if you fell short in other swims, but this year no one's home after many hours trying ?

Two chaps from London was talking to me last week, they visit the middle Severn every year and no doubt new the game but after four days fishing they had not one barbel between them, asking me as a local for some helpful advice/swims i could not help them sad

Re: Catching much?

I fish mainly Bridgnorth-Quatford and this season so far i'm way behind in my barbel catch numbers than just before the Autumn/Winter floods 2019, even when we had low river levels few years back it fished alot better than percent, very challenging for barbel at the moment indeed. Middle Severn is completely different in catch rate for myself than this time last year. Talking to many locals also the reports are similar, but i'm sure it will pick up again.

Re: Eckington Stone Bridge Section

Its been difficult for the work team this season to clear all pegs, remember lockdown has played a major part in this so the chaps have been trying to catch up. Met the them down Knowle Sands last week, with the small team they have i think they do well.

Re: Rubbish Nordley.

Also its not just anglers, during lockdown people was getting out sitting by the rivers and leaving rubbish behind etc, some bad cases for example in Shrewsbury with this.
