Re: River banks safety just asking please Try and "urbanise" a spate river like the Wye and you'll find your platforms in Chepstow. Unfortunately, getting old comes to all of us and I'm of the opinion that if I'm not safe of the bank, I shouldn't be on it. A time will come when I wont be able to carry kit the distances required to get to a peg, and even then, not be able to get into it. I'll adjust my fishing accordingly rather than try and get the naturally occurring bank to be changed. Posted on October 02, 2017 at 11:46 AM

Canoeist and Wild Swimmers All, As a member of the Wye Salmon Association I'd thought I share this with you all. Obviously my focus will be on the Wye and Stacklands as a BAA water but if you have any experiences at any other fisheries I would be interested in hearing them. It also gives us a chance as Anglers to show that not all of us are litter louts and care about the rivers. As anglers we have to pay a licence fee for the privilege of fishing on the river, the canoeist and more specifically the canoe hire companies do not! After numerous issues with trespass, abuse and littering by canoeists along with the seemingly new fad of 'wild water swimming', Wye Salmon Association (WSA) have placed the issue on the agenda of the next Wye Local Fisheries Group meeting for discussion. This meeting is due to take place on 24th November and we are seeking to gather details of issues you might of had recently, or indeed might have between now and the meeting. Dates, details of incident, photos, info on offenders, etc would all be extremely useful in compiling a dossier. The meeting will be attended by representatives of NRW, EA, including their fisheries protection teams plus WUF, WCC & WSA, Ross AC. Thank you all very much. I will let you know the findings. Re: Stacklands Thanks for posting this. I had a phone call when away on holiday in August from Keith that a Pizza box had been left on the bank, I knew it would be from a canoeist! I'll make a point of telling him about this. Posted on September 04, 2017 at 4:53 PM

Let me know when you are going again and I'll point out some of the more productive pegs in the first field. However it is very refreshing to note that you are making the effort to fish the entire beat and heading into the top fields.
