Re: match fishing

a venue i used to fish a few years ago had big problems with scrotes, 1 chap bought and old van, left the doors open and the windows so they could see there was nothing, even took out the radio... they set it on fire.. eventually sorted out by police and angry anglers setting traps and inflicting rough justice i believe. Trouble is it was hard to relax when you were listening for the sound of windows breaking or car alarms going off.
It was a incredible Tench water but also had few huge carp, between floods and stocking it got a lot of carp, nice intimate little Tench swims holding fish ito double figures were opened up for bivvies and casting 150yds (tench and carp were under the rod tip, spoilt the place for me.

Re: match fishing

i understand the reasons and as you say, cant blame people. I fished Charlton weir once...my god what a hike, walked from the car park to the wier, then back to the car to get the gear, back to the wier, blanked, walked back couldnt see the sign for the footbridge over the little stream, fell in the mud. thought i was going to have a heart attack going up the hill to the car park. getting too old i reckon. did look a lovely stretch of river there though.
tried eckington last week, wlaked up to the swan neck with a mate only to find 1 swim.in the end visited 3 venues looking for somewhere to fish blanked ( as usual lol ) spent longer travelling than i did fishing.

match fishing

first a bit of info needed, then a whinge.
When a match is booked at Manor Farm 2 thats the downstream section? When it just says Manor Farm is that the whole venue?
The whinge bit, i know most clubs are run by match fishing people, they put in the time and effort but some venues are pretty much unavailable due to matches on weekends. It seems every Sat n Sunday, Fladbury, Manor Farm are booked. I am only able to fish at weekends and normally only Saturday as i live a 100 miles away. it would be nice if these venues had some free weekends for those who are not match fisherman.
