Blue Ball AC match, Sunday 20th September

Fished on the River Anker at Bolehall;

1st Chris Wedgebrow 3lb 6oz
2nd Glynn Price-Hunt 1lb 12oz
3rd Ian Hickman 1lb 8oz
4th Brian Marsh 1lb 6oz

The winning peg was half way along the stretch, the river was slightly low and clear with the fish being found in the moving water.

Mostly perch, small chub, roach, gudgeon and ruff with a bit of pestering by pike with is a common problem at this fishery.

All in all , a nice day.

Report by Brian Marsh.

Re: no pegs

The Fisheries team spend 3 days at Severn Stoke this year specifically clearing the max number of pegs for the match booked which is far more time than we usually spend at a fishery clearing pegs.

We strimmed, cut back trees and dug out pegs both up and downstream of the car park and specifically checked we had created sufficient required, we also cut back the grass across the car park so the max number of anglers could park.

A few pegs were left as due to erosion they had become un-fishable and we have to make a call as to where we best use our limited resource and time. So I do not agree with the statement of only 7 half decent pegs were available.
