Re: saturdays match at nordley

Hi Keith

On the main match thread, it's said that if your name's not on the list you won't be able to fish.

However, on the 19th & 20th July, me & Robhol1 requested that you put our names down on the list but it doesn't seem to have been updated when the match is tomorrow!

For the avoidance of doubt, can you please update the list.

Cheers
Mork

Re: b.a.a. match fishing rules ?

Hi Meatman & carlingford59

Like many anglers, I've not fished a BAA match, so thought I'd familiarise myself with the rules that John has advised us of, and there doesn't seem to be many match rules.

I've been watching some experienced middle Severn barbel enthusiast video's and copying there methods - makes common sense (I thought). Yet my mate doesn't think It's allowed to bait before the whistle or use 2 rods may not be allowed on matches (but the bye-laws does permit).

So, applying an individuals unpublished 'common sense' rules is a little presumptuous that we are all singing off the same common sense hymn sheet and may cause some confusion.

For the avoidance of doubt, If we are not fishing to the BAA match association rules, it would be useful for me & others to see our friendly club version of the rules please.

Re: baa d'anglers a.c nordley match.

Hi Keith. Thanks for your response and yes it is a friendly answer although I'm not sure it explicitly answers my question.

Firstly, I'm sure that we all agree with your comments on ethos, fishomania, luck of the draw, like minded blokes, banter etc, but non of that was really about my question.

My question was all about the 'open match' invite, "Is this a club policy (1st come 1st served), potentially pushing out original members?"

Perhaps if I explain my situation it would help you understand where I'm coming from. Without giving too much personal detail, I negotiated early retirement for personal reasons with the agreement that I have to make myself available on some days (including Saturdays), but I will always know 3 days before. You've probably heard of contracts with 'stand down' and 'stand up' time to react to production demand too.

I'd like to fish the coming match, but can't confirm 100%, and would have put my name down next Weds to avoid messing you about. My concern was when you posted "well if theres only 19 pegs only 19 can fish! get your names down quickly or miss out" although you've since said that you can't see more than 15,

So, please add me as the 16th contestant, and I'll let you know next Wednesday if I need to drop out please.

If you are going to follow this policy (which I don't have a problem with), i'd like to put my name down early in future to secure my place and would be grateful for your understanding if in the unlikely event that I need to drop out 3 days before.
