Re: What can people tell me about the fishing at 'Fladbury Below' please?

That's three helpful replies in just 2 days.
More than I expected - many thanks smiling

Re: What can people tell me about the fishing at 'Fladbury Below' please?

OLC - many thanks - so no pegs noted for bream shoals or barbel then. That's good because I prefer a small silvers match so I don't need to make the 'double or bust' decision.

Rob - thanks - pretty normal fishing then but I didn't realise people were targeting bigger roach on halibut pellets or is what came along whilst targeting barbel? I remember using tares for big roach years ago.

Bin - thanks - I think those landing stages may be the ones I referred to in the 1st line of my OP (maybe 2 or 3 pegs below the bridge from memory). Good to see the chub are still there.

I'll put the results up but the match is not for another month yet.

Re: What can people tell me about the fishing at 'Fladbury Below' please?

JW - thanks for your response but I don't expect everyone to rush and answer my question within 3 hours

You may have misinterpreted my query. I'm explicitly asking about 'below the bridge' and what fish you may expect to catch in what area of that section only.

The reference to barbel was in response the gallery pictures & comments predominantly barbel orientated, mainly above the bridge & weir area, whilst I'm asking about what species I may expect to find below the bridge and it what swim areas.

The reason for my question is that I have a match there in a few weeks (1st river match over 30 years) and it may help to know what bait and approach depending on the area I draw. If I do draw an area noted for a specific species, whether it be barbel, chub, bream, roach , whatever, it would be useful to know please?

OLC - thanks but I think that you may have also got caught up in the JW misunderstanding.
I'm not specifically looking for a peg for targeting barbel on an 8 mile stretch. I'm only asking about Fladbury below and what areas are noted for what species on that stretch only.

Not sure about the cryptic 'bird cage' but i'm sure there are others that do understand. Can I assume by the barbel misdirection, that somewhere at Fladbury below there's an area where you can see a bird cage and it's noted for barbel please?

Re: What can people tell me about the fishing at 'Fladbury Below' please?

Thanks Reg. I'd already looked and seen all those nice barbel & pike pictures + a bream & carp.

The problem is that reviews don't distinguish between the 2 venues except some mention above bridge at weir area for barbel. There's only a couple that mention below the bridge and the last peg.

Although you can technically catch a barbel off 'any peg', my experience is that you're either on them peg or not a chance, hence does anyone have any more specific info on the downstream swims please and what fish to target on which swims please?

What can people tell me about the fishing at 'Fladbury Below' please?

I've not been to Fladbury below the bridge for 30+ years when i used to throw a waggler over to the boat/stages a couple of pegs down from the bridge and catch a few chub.

I note that it's popular these days, with good access and frequently booked/fished, so there must be plenty of people that know all about it.

Does anyone know which pegs are considered the 'good ones'?
Any specific areas noted for barbel, bream, roach/chub/perch etc?
Any other tips for that particular section please?

Many thanks and tight lines!
