Re: Salwarpe when the Severn is up

Hi Gav not fished it for a good few years now but last time we fished it we found the fish would hold up on certain pegs so if you wernt getting fish from the off chances were you would struggle while other pegs would be good for a few fish. So my advice would be move peg if your not catching pal. Sorry I cant give you anything more up to date.

Re: More Electro Fishing of Canals where BAA have waters - 08th Nov-2021

From our clubs point of view the involvement with Carl and his team has had nothing but positive results. We are now looking to put a few knock ups and club matches on the areas we now know hold a lot of fish.

We do have quite a few predator fishermen who buy season tickets for our water but they seem happy catching the pike and large perch in our Armitage stretch.

Im sure if the Baa were to ask Carl for some feed back on certain waters that they control or waters of interest to members they would get some good feed back.

Re: More Electro Fishing of Canals where BAA have waters - 08th Nov-2021

As a course fisherman I have no interest in Zander.

Im sorry that the C&RT are removing them for me personally its a good thing, at the end of the day they were illegally stocked into uk waters and shouldn't be there.

From my fishing on the Trent and Mersey canal this year just outside Litchfield all I can see is that the canals are stuffed with pike and huge perch ive never seen so many predictors.

From what I can gather the electro fishing is to establish just how far the zander have spread through out the canal network.

Carl and his team have finished their fish survey and electro fished all of our 4/5 miles of canal from Kings Bromley down to Fradley junction. Gratefully Carl has been able to supply our club with information regarding locations, areas of all our fish stocks, which we are very thankful for.

Some areas contain very few fish almost void of fish altogether which is shocking.

Other areas contain huge numbers of pike and perch and prey fish.

While other parts of our waters that we very rarely fish came up with some amazing results.

Over 50 large chub in one area we didnt even know about while other areas showed up large bream and large numbers of silver fish.

Oh and only 4 Zander removed from our waters so they have not migrated up from fradley junction in many numbers.
