Hi. Just to chip in here. I fish Uckinghall quite a bit but mainly because it is a nice looking lake and I like the peace. I did catch a small common of about 8 lb last summer on the top on bread but I never bother ledgering these days as the lake is full of bream, and they will eat just about any bait. A few good tench as well but tricky getting them through the bream. There aren't the stamp of fish in there as used to be years ago (circa 2005), due to the big flood of 2007, when most carp ended up in the river and the zander moved into the lake - I've not seen the big grass cap since, so she could be in the Severn as well now. Could be my imagination but there seems to be less silver fish in there now but I don't know if that is the zander or the floods. A few pike in there as well but never had anything over 9 lb and they are thin on the ground.
Same thing at Apperley- looks pretty dead although I did catch a small jack there once on a plug.
Mythe is generally a better bet all round but the weed is a challenge at times.
