Re: Tench for Retreat

Had my first Tench from pool 2 today, good 3lb but had a ragged tail and was badly marked on body. See photo. Also had a very small one and a very, very small one. Upturned mouths as shown, see photos with pellet band expander on one and the 2 maggots on the other for size !!
A couple of other anglers have suggested Ide.

Re: River wye

Hi, First the Wye and Usk foundation can`t make regulations, they sell tickets via their web site for many stretches (worth looking up). The whole of the Wye is catch & release for Salmon. It is also Fly and Spin only. Also be aware new regulations will probably be introduced shortly for Salmon and Sea Trout in Wales. They will also be applied to "at risk" rivers in England. However as the Wye contains more coarse fish than Salmon you can worm etc. for Chub & Barbel !! Trebles may be banned (not too sure about smaller ones on flies & spinners yet). They will also need to be barbless. Keep a look out for these new rules, hope this helps.

Re: River Teme

Don`t fish it as much as I did many years ago but I have a relative who has a caravan on a stretch near Eastham. He had 1 Barbel last year and heard of another 1 (on caravan site stretch). Catches mostly Trout (To 2lb) and Grayling (To 1 1/4 lb). Also Chub and a few Bream in the slower parts.
