Re: Avon MeadowsI remember it well, it was a great stretch, there was a big bend in the river half way down the stretch, below that it ran down with overhanging willows opposite, great roach sport as you say, and some good chub.

Re: night fishingJohn there has been a lot fishing down there of late, loads of bait gone in, it's crazy, of course most are repeat captures too. Wouldn't be so bad but only 2 or 3 pegs are ever fished, and of course the image problems the guys have is that they cant be seen to fish like the Oik's that are opposite. Feeder tactics or a massive bit of meat works better than faffing around with poncy boilies. Ha! It used to be WDUAA in the old days. I'd like to have a bash at the Clevelode stretch downstream, that's where LB has been catching 'em..but I've no idea who runs it, I expect it's a secret syndicate of some sort. I gather you are a Kempsey AA member then? P.S....it that you Neil?

Re: night fishingThe BS stretch has been hammered of late, by all nighters, and Facebooked with all the catches in an attempt to swell numbers. I would have though that at least a contribution to a loo would not have been to much of a problem for the rather grandly name Society. Not that I would want any fishery to have the stigma of a commercial tag, but come on if you are camping out you might expect some basic toilet facilities. Hardly 'hammered', there are only 42 members in the syndicate - it's not even full!!! - but certainly has been fished more since Lee started the Facebook group. A lot of the time i visit, there's only me there!!! You're right about SS though, Ive seen lots of anglers turn up there at dusk while i'm packing away.....including some well known ones!

Re: Stacklands in the news again!I think Wye fishing is still overshadowed by the salmon, even these days. Back in the day, 70's, 80's etc, you couldn't use maggots on the river until October or so (I think), and I suspect there are those down that neck of the woods, the eliteist bunch with the tweeds as you say, who believe that the river should be run exclusively as a salmon fishery. I've never fished river, as least not yet, but my late dad did...I remember him once telling a story of a club match on a stretch of the Wye somewhere or other, after which the owners of the stretch came down and ordered that all the coarse fish should be killed at the end of the match, barbaric it seems, but I suspect the story might have some substance. The only parts of the Wye readily accessible to normal folk are the WUF stretches, and for £22-£35 a day, it's a sign that they don't really want the likes of us down there.

Re: Stacklands in the news again!if this is true, I cant see the BAA getting an extension on their lease when it expires (whenever that is).
