Re: Stacklands new course season

No problem

Keep an eye on the above link. If the Wye is rising, stay at home. If it’s levelled off, regardless of height or is dropping, get on the bank.

For wading at Stacklands at the top then the height it’s at now on that gauge is about as high as I’d want to get in the water. Any higher and you are taking a bit of a risk, especially at the point where the two fields at the top meet and the stream comes in. It will have dropped by the 17th so you should be fine (assume you are salmon fishing)

Worth remembering there is a Wye bylaw in term of salmon anglers “fishing through” if you are on peg then salmon anglers can fish through your swim but cannot stop in it.

I’ll be about on the 16th and 17th so will see you on the bank

Re: Stacklands new course season

Keep this rain coming! Rain dances all round everyone! Just what the river needs. Flush the system out and get rid of this Algae.

Re: Stacklands new course season

Let’s hope not! A few long range forecasts predicting it. It was a very hard decision shutting the fishery last year, not just for us, but for Ross and Hereford also. However the fishing last Autumn and winter as a result of the closure was better than its been in years.

Stacklands new course season

Hello all,

With the new season fast approaching I thought I’d give you an update on the fishery. The Wye is very low, very slow and a lot of weed growth, worth bearing in mind if you want to trot a float in the faster water. This bit of a flush of rain is very welcome but we could do with a proper downpour to give the river a bit of a flush out. Reports of algae on lower beats so take care to wash your kit/hands after fishing.

I’ve been asked by Kev to remind everyone of the dawn til dusk fishing rules, please don’t enter the field until a hour before sunrise if you are fishing on opening day. Nothing stopping anyone getting in early and parking outside the gate however! Please only park in the designated parking area, only drive on the track, not to the bank or through the field. Stacklands looks like it does due to our zero tolerance approach to litter, bag it up and take it home!

Look forward to seeing you on the bank, tight lines!
