Re: arley

I had my first session of the season on the middle Severn just up from Arley today. River was looking good, a bit of extra water and colour on, and so it proved; a 6lb-er with the first cast and a couple of smaller ones later on. I've been using 8mm pellets a lot this year for my barbel fishing and of course these are less selective species-wise than bigger pellets; consequently as well as a good barbel session, I also had the best day's roach fishing I've had for years - half a dozen pristine fish, only one of which was less than a pound. Just unfortunate that they were outgunned somewhat by big river barbel gear! smiling

Re: fladbury

Tried Wood Norton last week with pellet and corn, barely a touch all afternoon / evening, resulting in a resounding blank. While I mainly put this down to piscatorial incompetence, the river was low and clear, which never helps. There should be some good shoals of bream in this stately flowing, deep part of the river. Won't give up on it, I do get the feeling it'll produce if you catch it right. Shame there aren't more pegs cut out in the upper meadow.
