Birmingham Worcester canal

Was thinking of giving it a go for pike as a change of scene. Any tips on location, sections?

Re: swans neck an head bitten clean off by otter at mythe pool

sad
I don't fish the Mythe that often but its a nice water (proper lake not a commercial goldfish bowl). I have not heard of otters attacking swans before - seems quite unusual! Then again just googled it and it seems it does happen.....

Bad news there are otters on the pool though as they will clear out the pool if nothing is done. But then I am not sure what they can do to be honest....I have heard a few carefully places scarecrows can help as otters don't normally hang about if there are people.

Re: Nonsense weights of barbel on this forum

Actually I think we need to go easy on the gentleman as that is very much a typo (either on his part or the BAA) as the photos of his other fish are bigger!

Re: Nonsense weights of barbel on this forum

Would have to agree that that fish does not look like 16lb!? I am sure that may be an error. I am the angler with the photo from Stacklands of the 8lb fish and that does not look double the size!

As for Stacklands, a lovely stretch of water. First time I fished there it was pretty quiet with only 3 people.

I fished there again a couple of weeks ago on a Monday and had the whole place to myself. . Perfect conditions and had a red letter day..... 2 x 5lb, 2 x 6lb, 1 x 7lb and my first double and PB of 10lb 8oz! Also a 4lb chub. This was all in the space of the afternoon!

I would not dream of fishing for Barbel or any other species to be honest without a mat and good sized net, I will be honest I thought this was already compulsory in the rule book.
