Re: Canals Yes mate, the factory view opposite is not very enticing but the fishing makes it worthwhile....usually. In the final hour of a club match last year I fed some corn and expander pellets into a swim that I was catching skimmers. I did then land a decent Bream on corn but ran out of time to give it a real go. This was further around the cut near to The Queens head pub. It may be a tactic worth trying along here. There is the odd big carp about though, which I would rather avoid when on 0.10 hook length. Posted on June 04, 2017 at 6:51 PM
Re: Canals This section is in decent form currently. I did 3 hour this morning until the boat traffic got busy, as expected on a Saturday. Lots of Skimmers plus Perch and a couple of decent Bream. Slightly over depth with red maggot and caster. 4 x 12 is about right as is does tow when the boats go along. Wish I had got out a little earlier to be honest. D Evans 2lb 8oz This pool always looks like it should be stuffed full of fish but as most of us know it can be a tough venue. It's the lack of the smaller silvers that really disappoints. Then the larger fish are few and far between. Maybe you need an early or even a late start? Does the water need more time to warm up? Anyway it was a showery day with a constant breeze across the lake. A solitary feeder Bream won it right on the whistle. Back up places practically the same. Re: New Retreat Pools - The good and the bad! Tracker, I admire you for spending 4 hours on No2 pool. We were there last week and found it utterly lifeless. No fry in the margins, nothing topping on the surface. If this pool has been stocked recently it would be good to hear or see some evidence. It has zero colour in it, just like tap water only clearer! Then there's the weed to contend with. If you fancy throwing feeder because of the water clarity I found it impossible to find a clear area. Will not be rushing back there any time soon. Posted on May 12, 2017 at 4:56 PM
Re: Canals Around Alvechurch and Bromsgrove you can usually catch roach and perch for a few lbs in the net. There is also the chance of a few bream along certain sections. Look at the match fishing results for more info on bait and location. 41 - 42 is a popular stretch where you will have no trouble parking either end. Tracker, I admire you for spending 4 hours on No2 pool. We were there last week and found it utterly lifeless. No fry in the margins, nothing topping on the surface. Around Alvechurch and Bromsgrove you can usually catch roach and perch for a few lbs in the net. There is also the chance of a few bream along certain sections.
